Cyberstalking Surges
This was a project for my publication design class. Together, me and classmate Andrew Ashton implemented an article written by Rachel Cohen over the dangers of Cyberstalking, into a magazine spread of our own design.
Spreads
Andrew handled the illustration and texture, while I designed the layout, typography, and dot patterns. We came up with the saboteur spy character together, and appropriately named him "Surveillance Sam".
Dot Pattern Experimentation
I used dots to construct many shapes, including the drop cap, and quotation marks. These rows of dots were used to mimic many different connotations in the illustrations as well, such as analog circuitry, buttons on a coat, and even route directions.
Infographic Experimentation
The magazine ends on an infographic that offers the reader tips on how to prevent cyberstalking. I wanted this to reflect the dot pattern in the rest of the magazine, while still feeling independent from the rest of the magazine. To do this, I settled on an undulating line based off of half circles. The placement and background color was chosen to make it feel both part of the spread that contains the illustration, and body copy.
