Fresh Air
An app that tracks your biometrics and catalogues the hiking trails you've visited. This was a solo project for my application design class!
Onboarding
The on boarding was designed to mimic swinging trail signs, while a parallax animation in the background played as the user swiped through the information. This made the user feel as if they were already hiking through a forest, even at the start of the app.
Illustration
The illustrations were done in photoshop, then imported into Invision as separate elements ready for animation. Keeping the color palette limited between 2-3 dominant hues, with variations in tints and shades, kept the illustrations from becoming too busy, while still allowing for variations and atmospheric perspective. The texture was done with multiple photoshop brushes, and was intentionally kept rough to retain a bit of a rugged aesthetic.
Biometrics
The biometrics function allowed you to track steps walked, and average pace, while also providing the ability to view these over the course of a day, week, month, or year in order to track improvement. These worked well in tandem with the smart watch.
Smart Watch
I created limited functionality for a smart watch feature as well, so users can check their biometrics and location on-the-go while they're in the great outdoors, rather than having to pull their phone out.
